I lay in the mud

I lay in the mud

A Poem by Reena
"

A tree's perspective.Written for my nephew's science project on germination

"

I lay in the mud and thought
What will the future bring?
Just then the sun came by
and my heart began to sing.

I felt warm and cozy
but something was still missing
It was my friend water
for whom I was waiting.

Soon water came along
in form of a gentle shower
I felt life stir inside me
two tiny leaves soon gave me power.

Then I grew into a tender sapling
green as green could be
Today I am a mighty tree
but humble was my beginning as you see.

Humble indeed are most beginnings. In retrospect they make success taste even sweeter.
