The Liar's Waltz

The Liar's Waltz

A Poem by Reema.A
"

They all wore masks

"

It's 1,2,3,4,
Circles around and again,
A curtsey,
A bow,
A precious Melody,
Out of History,

And it's 1,2,3,4,
Around and around,
The children sleep,
The young girls leap,
Dreaming, wishing, pretending,
Dancing and laughing,
Precious memories,

It's 1,2,3,4,
Around and around they go,
Smiles, laughter,
Small talk,
Ribbons and petticoats,
Top hats and dinner coats,
Candles and cups,
Music and chatter,

It's 1,2,3,4,
The night is over,
The talk begins to flow,
'I danced with so and so -
He was such a bore!'
She laughed,
He complimented,
They all wore masks,

It's 1,2,3,4,
Steps so in tune-
A liar's waltz,
Man's own fault,
Until the end of time.
