This speaks of love on a whole other plane. (Not the mile-high knee-trembler in United Airlines toilet type of plane) .; p
The type of joining that is beyond the physical. Pure energies merging and being way more than the sum of them. Such a love - such a 'meeting' is forever burned into the psyche... regardless of whether any physical conjoining occurs.
This is brilliant ReedWrite

Yes...not a lot of reviewers picked up on that...this wasn't written as a reference to a physical union...but to something more. Something deeper and richer. Something that brands the soul. When all is said and done, if we're talking love, the physical joining of two people should be an expression of that kind of love...then again, I'm a hopeless romantic...lol.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Tony.
Love this from beginning to end. What a wonderful thought the flesh of the mind is, that line alone gave me shivers. Your words here touch the part within that you speak of so eloquently, almost hypnotic , with a rich and decadent feel as the reader falls into your groove of thought, knowing that they might never return from that place that feels like home. Superbly captured.

No writer could ever ask for more, than that those who read their words FEEL them at more than a surface level. Those connections are rare, and something to be treasured. Thank you for taking the time to read and review.
That's some goodness there, beautifully poetic! The energy of this is delicious engaging all the senses. Simple but perfect close I think perhaps we've all had those words roll off our tongues at some stage. Gorgeous poetry. R xo

Thank you so much! I sincerely appreciate your words. Thank you for such a great review.
yes, the soul mate thing...even though mine and i tried to live together but couldn't, we are still close...and always will be.
there is something about soul mates...the unspoken that needs not be spoken....
the understanding of understanding each other and always being there for one another...
beautifully worded piece.

Thank you, Jacob. Appreciate your words, and review very much.
So beautiful, true and touching on many levels of our maturity... We have the need to connect, share and feel together. Life alone is not enough without others to love and cherish. This is a testimony of our interconnectedness. Thank you for sharing with us. ...:::))))

To me this is a great way to describe regret . . . and how it feels when so many aspects of the life we used to enjoy are no longer possible or available to us. Even tho your words appear to be describing a physical union of splendor that the narrator wishes he/she could still engage in, there's also a tone of desperation that makes this feel like it's about losing more than just the physical sensations. Your first stanza suggest this parallel meaning between the physical & the heart.

A union between kindred spirits can indeed create a potent, effervescent mix that releases all kinds of pleasant pheromones into the surrounding atmosphere!

Thank you, Tom. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.
why is it that for many of us it takes so long to figure this out.. this "I would ..if I could" the inhibitions torn down and to just be, to just be with someone... such wasted time, and often such heartache... I enjoyed your poem and the thoughts carried within RW (hope you don't mind the short hand with your pen name)..
I love the image of finger tips here, so much can be said and/or implied with touch... you re a romantic at heart it seems.. cool
thanks for the treat

And yes, in younger years, our lives seem to be laced with kids, jobs, demands of all kinds, not to mention inhibitions passed on to us from our parents. As we get older, sometimes those walls come down and we realize we can just enjoy the pure nature of the human spirit without a need to qualify and quantify. Without shame. To be honest, this poem was not so much about physical connections, as mental ones...but on so many levels, that is one and the same, perhaps. Thank you so much for the review. Appreciate it.
After a decade trapped by distractions, I'm pursuing my passion once again. I come from a military background...a Navy brat...and my father (now deceased) and brother, are both published writers...so .. more..
