I WOULD...IF I COULD

I WOULD...IF I COULD

A Poem by ReedWrite
"

A poem...who knew?

"

I would trail my words,

   Like gentle fingertips,

Along the flesh of your mind.

Feeling the shiver,

  Hearing the moan.

So intoxicatingly sublime.

I would taste your response,

   Like pearls on the tongue,

Rich beyond simple imagining.

Trembling with ardor,

   Gasping with need,

Every cell compelled to sing.

I would burn your soul,

   Living fire from within,

That sears you to your core.

Scorching inhibitions away,

   Melting reason and rhyme,

Bringing you ever back, for more.

I would...if I could...

This speaks of love on a whole other plane. (Not the mile-high knee-trembler in United Airlines toilet type of plane) .; p
The type of joining that is beyond the physical. Pure energies merging and being way more than the sum of them. Such a love - such a 'meeting' is forever burned into the psyche... regardless of whether any physical conjoining occurs.
This is brilliant ReedWrite

Marvellous job. The body is only a small thing relative to what is within. And that which is within is the most astonishing thing in the universe.

Thank you so much R.J. I appreciate that you took time to read and comment!
Love this from beginning to end. What a wonderful thought the flesh of the mind is, that line alone gave me shivers. Your words here touch the part within that you speak of so eloquently, almost hypnotic , with a rich and decadent feel as the reader falls into your groove of thought, knowing that they might never return from that place that feels like home. Superbly captured.

That's some goodness there, beautifully poetic! The energy of this is delicious engaging all the senses. Simple but perfect close I think perhaps we've all had those words roll off our tongues at some stage. Gorgeous poetry. R xo

Thank you so much! I sincerely appreciate your words. Thank you for such a great review.
yes, the soul mate thing...even though mine and i tried to live together but couldn't, we are still close...and always will be.

there is something about soul mates...the unspoken that needs not be spoken....
the understanding of understanding each other and always being there for one another...

beautifully worded piece.

So beautiful, true and touching on many levels of our maturity... We have the need to connect, share and feel together. Life alone is not enough without others to love and cherish. This is a testimony of our interconnectedness. Thank you for sharing with us. ...:::))))

To me this is a great way to describe regret . . . and how it feels when so many aspects of the life we used to enjoy are no longer possible or available to us. Even tho your words appear to be describing a physical union of splendor that the narrator wishes he/she could still engage in, there's also a tone of desperation that makes this feel like it's about losing more than just the physical sensations. Your first stanza suggest this parallel meaning between the physical & the heart.

Thank you, Tom. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.
why is it that for many of us it takes so long to figure this out.. this "I would ..if I could" the inhibitions torn down and to just be, to just be with someone... such wasted time, and often such heartache... I enjoyed your poem and the thoughts carried within RW (hope you don't mind the short hand with your pen name)..

I love the image of finger tips here, so much can be said and/or implied with touch... you re a romantic at heart it seems.. cool

thanks for the treat
