Happy PlaceA Story by Reddog19A description of my happy place.
The harsh Douglas firs crescent the soft golden meadow, filtering the setting summer sun through it's sharp green needles. Red and white roses dot the tawny field, and a bubbling brook races across the bottom of the clearing, dashing over cold gray rocks and spraying the rich soil from time to time with its crystal-clear tears of joy, content to give part of its life to further the expanse of the meadow. Songbirds chatter above and a young fawn crosses the garden without a care, it's speckled pelt concealing it. The towering purple mountains backed the stream, creating a perfect valley for the descending sun, washing everything in a Godly brilliance. A translucent rainbow hovered a few feet from the surface of the river as the mist splayed up from the creek slamming into the rocks that lined the riverbed. Salmon and trout swam nonchalantly upstream, feeding on the occasional bug. Green grass blanketed the area between the river and the mountains. Every few feet, there would be a yellow or orange flower, brightly colored against the dark green blades. The evening sky was bathed in flames of red and white streaks. A lone tree stood in the middle of the valley and cast a long shadow to the very edge of the stream, covering the grass in its darkness. You lay there next to me, your arm wrapped around me and I snuggle in closer, cherishing the fleeting moment. You have your black and gray jacket on, unzipped and showing your black Warriors shirt, the red 10 gleaming in the evening sun. My head rests on your chest and I see your crossed black shoes. Your hair is halfway hidden in your light gray hat, and you sigh deeply, making my head rise and fall with your rhythmic breathing.
