portrait of a drowning man

portrait of a drowning man

A Poem by J. Randall Dodd

water flows, flows, flowing from whence it came,

ebbing, stentorious tides hush the dead,

whilst sirens sing his doom from jagg'd rocks.

tired, limpid limbs fail their grip

of salt'd waves, the cold of liquid begins its chill,

the sparking life-- dous'd by aquatic assault.

he takes his last fluid breath slowly, sinking.
