the mistaken moth blues

the mistaken moth blues

A Poem by J. Randall Dodd

there be a tiger loose in the countryside!

lawd, i said a tiger be runnin' loose in the countryside!

m'baby, o m'baby where shall we hide?

it leapt like a flame from heaven upon that stone!

lawd, i said a flame from heaven leapt upon that stone!

m'darlin', o sweet darlin' now let us head on home!

there be a tiger munchin' in the closet on my jacket's cloth!

lawd, i said a tiger in the closet has chewed up my jacket's cloth!

o baby, sweet an' simple baby that ain't no tiger-- it be a moth.
