with strength found in a woman's eyesA Poem by J. Randall Doddshe
swayed into the room and all conversation ceased. the
sound of silver cutting away at porcelain stopped. every
eye was on her. she was a little china
doll with little doll eyes. everything
he had ever idealized in a woman was ideal in her. (alabaster
skin, blue-green eyes, delicate hands leading to elegant
fingers, long, curled tresses of brown) his mind skipped to the heightened beating of
his heart. the
ambiance was perfect, the food exquisite, the
service excellent, and the company divine.
this
young couple in love. she looked at him with
adoring eyes, and he smiled at her. he
was nervous. (worst-case
scenarios abound.) what
if she said no? how would he react? he
gathered all his courage and swallowed hard.
looking
deep into her blue-green eyes he found strength-- and
it brought him to his knee. © 2010 J. Randall Dodd |
