Chapter Two-First Day In The ForestA Chapter by Isabelle HowardAzalea has managed to escape, but it's not exactly going her way.......
Azalea-after fifteen minutes of running into the surrounding forest-is exhausted; and so is poor Lionheart, who was running along beside her the whole time. She decides to climb into a tree-after all, no one would be able to find her in the tall trees that grew in that forest. "C'mon, Lionheart, into my bag," She coaxes her scared little kitten. She slips him in her over-the-shoulder bag, leaving a small (but secure) hole for him to see out of. She mounts the pine tree, and up, up, up, up, up, up she climbs-to the middle of it, where the branches are still thick. "Now," she says, "I have to set up my bed....." She takes a cozy (but compact) bag that's at least a foot above her head, and positions it on the thickest branch, with the opening facing the trunk. Then, she takes out the small pillow (which has a hole in the back, on both of the short sides) and the three lengths of rope-one short, two long-that she hid in the bag out. Then, she runs the short length of rope through the two holes in the pillow, and ties it around the tree. The pillow is now secure. Now, she thinks, what am I going to do about the bag? She sits down for a minute, and thinks. She notices that the sun was setting. Oh! I know! She thinks as she gets out her knife and makes two sets (of two) holes in the bottom of the bag, much like the ones in the pillow. Then, she runs rope through those (holes). Then, still much like the pillow, she ties the ends of the rope to the branch. "There," she says aloud, before she remembers one last thing. She takes out a small wooden box from her bag. The box-much like the pillow and bag-has two holes in it. She takes out her loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong length of rope, and she cuts two feet off of it. She ties the box to the tree, empties out her bag (placing Lionheart in her pocket, of course), and puts the contents into her box. She dusts off her hands, then, she ties her bag on a bit of a higher branch, and puts Lionheart inside of it. "Well, I guess this is my first home away from home," she says happily, and climbs into her sleeping bag. "Goodnight, my fearless kitten," She calls up to Lionheart. "Mew." Was all she got in reply.
