Nothing Rhymes with Orange

Nothing Rhymes with Orange

A Poem by Red_Queen
"

This is not for you.

"

We are all oranges

and everyone knows

Nothing rhymes with orange

Will I ever rhyme

with life, or am I

Destined

To only rhyme with

Dead

I am strapped down

and force fed.

I am an orange

and everyone knows

nothing rhymes with orange

I want to rhyme with

Love

but I only seem to attract

Hate

Should i inject the needle?

and just sedate?

myslef?

I want to rhyme with apple

with peaches

with rainbow grapes

But i only rhyme with orange

So i am nothing.

Because evryone knows

nothing rhymes with orange.

Alas, there may be hope: "door-hinge" ;)

Never-the-less your poem was quite lovely in its sullen domain, reminds me of the idea that "we all die alone". I love your choice of metaphor and that it's abstract enough, i think, not to seal the deal so to speak. Hope may still be graspable.

Well penned.

What an interesting comparision of each of us with an orange. Great write. Just remember though, that only makes us unique. Love it.

I know we are just an hour glass waiting for our sand to empty.

Hmmm, this poem made be think. I am thinking about the line:

"or am I
Destined
To only rhyme with
Dead".

In many ways you found the inner answer, because the moment we are born, we are dying.

Wow..that is awesome. I can really relate. It's like your feeling like you want to be somebody, but as hard as you try, you know that you will always feel like a nobody.

"Words and phrases that rhyme with orange: (0 results)
Sorry, no perfect rhymes were found."

Bummer! Let's try again!

"orange
One- and two-syllable End Rhymes of orange:
challenge expunge lozenge lunge orange plunge scavenge sponge "

Challenge, maybe? How about lozenge? Those are pretty close if not on the money for a one syllable rhyme.

"Nothing rhymes with orange
My throat hurts; I need a lozenge"

That is painful!

"Nothing rhymes with orange
Life is such a challenge"

Wonderful write! I love the metaphor!

The metaphor is terrific, very clever. I like the contrasting nature of this poem, the life/death, love/hate, collective/disconnected.

For some reason, I feel like a fruit salad...
