Romans 8A Story by Tim LawlessFor I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy so be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.--Romans 8:18 Who are you? How do you identifiy yourself? With what do you find your fulfillment? Where is your hope? We can never place any hope in anything other than Christ. All other stronghold's fail Whether we place our hope in money, our job, our friends, our scene, our education. In the end, everything returns to the ground from which it came. That seems to be the point of this chapter of Paul's epistle to the Romans, in a rather roundabout way. Christ is our only hope. Whenever we place our hope in anything else, we will always find that we are frustrated and disappointed. Christianity is about so much more than obeying a list of rules and going to church on Sunday. I would submit that doing that is in no way what makes a person a Christian. To be in Christ is to be a new creation. To be in Christ is to have one's hope in the only lasting refuge. Nothing we put our hope in or identify ourselves with can ever fulfill. Hence verse 18. Nothing in this life can ever compare to the glory we will one day receive. Nothing else in this life will bring hope or true fulfillment. I hope this encourages...someone. © 2009 Tim LawlessReviews
