You Wanted A Song

You Wanted A Song

A Poem by Tim Lawless

You asked for a song in your name.

Good or bad, I'll write it all the same.

For the sake of all the sleepless nights,

And for the sake of knowing that you're alright.

So cliche as this all may sound,

And tossed around, and around, and around.

I never expected what I got from you,

I never met anyone quite like you.

Please, don't take this wrong,

It's no confession of love hidden for long.

But all the same, I hope you know,

That I will never, ever, go.
