I am Not.

I am Not.

A Poem by Tim Lawless

I do not exist.

I'm not here.

I'm less than a self, invisible at best.

So don't notice me.

Don't pretend.

We both know I'm not really here anyway.

And I'd do better without a simple acknowledgment to inflate my ego.

I thought I was here yesterday. A month ago. In August.

But that hope for purpose was a quickly extinguished delusion of grandeur.

So don't pretend I'm here.

I'm really not.

Not here.

Not hoping and praying for anything. I promise.

I swear. I do not think about you every second of the day.

And most importantly, it does not nearly bring me tears to think of how I've ruined this.

this is probably one of my favorite things you have ever written...

I love the last couple of lines
