Another Year

Another Year

A Poem by Tim Lawless

Another year,

Long gone.

Another month

Slipped by.

I've wasted too many sunsets in this short life.

I'm getting older day by day

And not getting any wiser.

Just more hardened. Cynical. Jaded. Bitter.

I've weathered every trial and come out no better,

It's like they just keep rushing at me,

And I, stubborn me, just refuse to learn.

When I meet glory face to face,

When He asks me how I did,

I won't tell Him that I won the race.

Because I'd be lying about how I lived.
