Winter (unfinished)

Winter (unfinished)

A Poem by Tim Lawless

Autumn never felt so cold,

The wind never did seem quite so bold.

But there's a chill creeping through the air,

A reminder that I'm here and I'm not there.

How much harder did I make it?

Did I make this vow so I could break it?

Am I honestly honest with anyone?

Am I just making a fool out of everyone?

The winter and the cold won't stay long away;

Between you and me, it feels like winter every day.

Did I do this to you, did I do it to us?

Speaking my mind only broke your trust.

How much harder did I make it?

Did I say it all so I could take it

Back and be dishonest with everyone?

And am I honestly fooling anyone?

This bitter cold

It never stays gone for long.

And I feel so old

But not enough to say I've been wrong

Even if this isn't finished, it is wonderful.
"The winter and the cold won't stay long away;
Between you and me, it feels like winter every day.
Did I do this to you, did I do it to us?
Speaking my mind only broke your trust."
I love those lines.
