Fell in Love with the Game.

Fell in Love with the Game.

A Poem by Tim Lawless

I fell in love with a fake.

I fell in love with a game.

I fell in love with a face

With no name.

She told me she loved me,

Said it was all true.

In the end I'd be ashamed

I never knew.

She wasn't like me.

Not a human being.

The smile and the eyes

They were all for deceiving.

I fell in love with a fake,

I fell in love with your games,

I fell in love with lies

And false fame.

But it was so close,

How could I ignore it?

She was so close

How could I avoid it?

I wish I could erase the memory,

But imperfect love,

Was left with me.

Because of that face,

I now know disgrace.

I've met so much shame,

'Cause I fell in love with the game.
