A Poem by Tim Lawless

I do believe,

That your insomnia is catching.

Your sleeplessness is contagious.

Or else some other part of you

Is just as infectious.

I have a one track mind,

Beneficial in most situations,

Agonizing in this.

Do you end our conversations so abruptly,

Because you're just tired of me?

I'd completely understand.

Just know that I'm sitting here,

Hoping, begging, praying,

That you will be alright.

Because I just can't erase this picture.

Are you still with me?

Are you still fighting?

Or have you lost the war?

I confess, my waking mind is filled with the image,

Of a dead girl drowned in water and blood.

Stay with me.

Just stay around long enough to see that this will be alright.

Stay with me,

I can't be everything you need

But I can sure as hell try.

...
this brought tears to my eyes.

I am so sorry.
I am alright.
