Unworthy

A Poem by Tim Lawless

We're all so weak,

Lord be our strength,

When we walk in shadow

You are our light.

But God, my God!

How dark is the soul!

How black our hearts,

That we can only be healed

By nails and lashes and a crown of thorns!

We are weak.

We are evil.

Greedy, spiteful, knowing only darkness.

And yet you love us just the same.

Yet you love me all the same.
