Riddle of the Rodents, part 1

Riddle of the Rodents, part 1

A Poem by Red Jack
"

It has been a long time since I spent any time in Rockford prior to this. But someone called me in need of aid, and it was with this I responded.

"

My, oh my, you are in a pickle.
Now dear old Jack shall give you a riddle.
    Shadows fall deep within Rockford.
Twilight filled to the brim with monsters.
A solution to this you must find,
to get on the Prince's good side.
So it's Jack, all clad in red,
you turn your attention to instead.
In hopes that I'll have an answer,
and not lead you to disaster.
But fear not, for old Jack's mood,
favors your cause, so I conclude,
The answer you seek has once been your food.
Eyes that burn like the sun.
Not quite red, but still it you shun.
Kill them, and the problem has been solved!
That's it; no more, that's all that's involved.

Author's Note

Red Jack
This was among my earlier work, so it is not nearly as polished as some of my later riddles.
