Privilege

Privilege

A Poem by RedRoomXO

Deep inhibition
When I’m trying to break through
Deeper conversation
Trying to get to you
Steady unfazed, unentertained, dissatisfied
Says she likes men with brains
In her presence I’m just graffitied

She says she likes men with brains
But what defines knowledge?
Money, status, intellect, or a degree from college?
Some are born into it
Some are born without
Some are born to chase it
Will he make it?
We’ll find out.

To hide and ponder
Or live without regret.
She knows I’m fond of her
But she doesn’t get me yet.
Unethical, out of the box, deep thoughts
I guess she’s too good for me
Silence says “kick rocks”

She says she likes men with brains
Then why aren’t you talking back?
Guess I’m just not of her standard
Something I just lack.
Time is of the essence
Feels like I’m time wasting
They say so go toward yours fears
So this fear I am facing.
I’ll never know her
So I’m left with fascination
If I was between those legs
Shed have no hesitation

But she likes men with brains
Certainly a surface image
Stable boy mesmerized by a princess
I never had the previlage
