You and IA Story by RedIt's a story about life. You lose some and you get some.Ryan and I were sitting outside of the café, drinking our coffee. He went on and on about how he thought that the government hated babies. “So your telling me” I said, “that you that you think the government hates babies? Why the hell would they hate babies? “Dude” he said, “are you retarded? They hate them because they’re pure, man.” He sipped his coffee. I was so lost on the matter. Babies? “Ryan, how much pot have you been smoking?” “Shut up, a*****e. You know I don’t smoke!” “Right, that’s why you’re telling that the government hates babies.” He flipped me off acting like it would make me mad or something. I laughed at him. Right as I was about to take a sip Ryan had thrown his coffee at me. I quickly jumped up due to the hot coffee. I looked down. He got my pants wet. “Damn it Ryan!” He fell out of his chair laughing. I walked inside the café to try and get something to dry off my pants with. As I walked in I tried to act normal. I didn’t feel like getting laughed at by anyone thinking I wet my pants. I looked around only to find a few napkins. A grabbed a handful and began to wipe off the coffee. I looked over to find some girls laughing at me. I was so embarrassed. I walked outside looking for Ryan. I saw him getting in his car. I quickly ran over to him. He looked at me and shook this head “no”. “Your not getting in my car with you pants wet like that.” “Are you freaking kidding me? You’re the one who did this too me!” “Oh come on. Your house is only a few blocks away.” “Try a mile away.” “Later dude.” With that he rolled his window up and drove away. I walked home with my head clouded with rage. He left me there and just drove off! That a*****e! I didn’t know what to think. I just wanted to get home and change my pants. As I was walking my shoe came untied. I saw a bench where I could tie it. I sat down next to a kid reading a comic book of some kind. At first I paid no attention to him as I tied my shoe, trying not to move too much due to the wet spot on my pants. When I was done I looked over at his comic. It was issue 37 of Dr. Chainsaw. “No way!” I said, “Dr. Chainsaw rocks. He’s amazing!” “Ya.” “How many have you read? “A lot.” He acted scared of me. “You ok kid?” “Ya.” “Number 37 is probably the best one” “Ya.” “You look familiar. What school do you go to? “Evansworth” “I thought so. I’ve seen you before. Your names Tanner, right? “Ya.” “I’m Jared by the way.” “Well I have go Tanner. Bye.” “Bye.” With that said I got up from the bench and continued on home. When I got home I saw my mom had left a note. Apparently my mom and my father were going to be working late tonight. I went upstairs and changed my pants. I had laid on my bed for a little while, relaxing. It had been a long day. I go up and went down stairs for something to eat. I opened the refrigerator only to find it empty. I checked my wallet. I still had some money. I decided to go out to eat at my favorite place, Burger City, wanting a nice dinner. I was wrong. I left my house and began to walk. It was pretty dark out. As I was walking I saw Tanner again but this time he had a box and a smile on his face. I also saw three guys approach him. I couldn’t recognize their faces. One of them took the box from him and through it on the ground. “What have we got here?” one of them said. He reached inside the box grabbing a comic. The person ripped it up. “Oops!” him and the other two guys started to laugh. I could see tears rolling down Tanners face. “Is the baby ganna cry?” they laughed some more. I wasn’t going to let them get away with it. I walked over to them. “What the hell is going on here?” I saw the face of the guy who ripped up the comic. I saw the other guy’s face too. I didn’t recognize ether of them. I also saw Ryan with them. “What’s your problem?” Ryan asked. “My problem? What’s your problem?” “How about you mind your own business, punk.” one of them said. “How about you leave him alone.” “Or what?” He started to laugh. Smack! I punched him right in the nose. He fell over on the ground sobbing like a baby. The other one ran over to me. Before he could do anything I punched him in the gut. He fell over onto the ground as well. The two guys got up and ran off. All that was left was Ryan. “I see how it is.” He said, “your just a little b***h!” he ran up to me and tried to punch me. He swung his arms around in an attempt to hit me. Before he could do anything else I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. He looked at me in fear. I let him go; he wasn’t worth it. He ran off into the night. I turned around seeing Tanners face in his hands crying. “I’m sorry about your comic, Tanner” “Its not that. I wish they would just leave me alone!” “Trust me, I don’t think they’ll mess with you for a while.” “But what if they do?” “Then I guess they’ll have to deal with me” I said. He lifted his head and looked at me with a smile. “I don’t know about you” I said, “but I’m hungry. You want to get something to eat? I’m buying.” “Sure” he said, “that sounds good.” I walked over to the ripped up comic and picked part of it up. “Damn!” I said, “This was a good issue too!” “Its ok, Jared. I may have lost a good comic, but I also got a good friend.” I picked up his box of comics and we began to walk towards the Burger City. I can’t really say if that was a good or a bad day. I had lost a friend and yet I had gained a friend. It was all so confusing. Ryan and I never talked again. As for Tanner and me, we’ve been friends for a long time. Do I regret losing Ryan as a friend? Not really. At least Tanner doesn’t throw coffee at my pants. © 2010 RedAuthor's Note
