No Man's Land

No Man's Land

A Poem by Poppy
"

Love during WW1

"
The summer holds
shadows melt the living
Palettes red, green fields for the dead

Lay your sleeping head
in thoughts that walk my mind
Time ticks, slowly moves the hand
Breath of whispers no man's land
shrines of bones, white against the
bleached blue skies

Did last I kiss ~ with heart enough
Don’t pin medals on me for when
I die I shall die screaming.
Exhausted earth she that lies in
wait for men
Allow my last breath ~ where I fall,
let not my loved ones hear my call

The summer holds
no sense my love, in mourning.
In sleep
I pray you let, my lights
fade dim...

Very descriptive, particularly the beginning "shadows melt the living palettes red, green fields for the dead", I found this really telling. A lovely poem, thank you.
