where'd he go?

where'd he go?

A Poem by Skyla
"

I miss my Dad.

"
here but so far away,
the empty shell of the man
he used to once be
somehow some much less than

where'd my daddy go?
my best friend, my hero
taken from me so young
100% to zero

i promised myself i'd get him back
the man who wasn't a ghost town
i told my mom i'd never give up
the dad who'd never let me down

now our time is cut short
and i have so much to say
how do i fit a lifetime of words
into a 24 hr long day?

you'll miss framing my diploma
my marriage where your parents once stood
i'll never see you holding grandkids
empty photos spots where you should

all my life i've had my daddy at my side
my bestest buddy to hold my hand
now suddenly, the threat of you being gone
all i can think about is our footprints in the sand

I don't know you, and you are breaking my heart!! *Hugzz* When my sister died, there was this odd preparation for her two years with cancer, that she was going to die.... and some time soon. I didn't know when. The last few days were all too painful/awkward/strange/dissolving!! It came to be too real in the end, and....... and so very fast. I don't want to ask if your dad was Alzheimer's or on a machine, but the way you write...... I feel like I'm reading from a friend's notebook or even mine at times!! Wonderful job.... though a painful poem to swallow and take in..... With respect, my heart goes out to you. xoxo -Mark
