Cold Toes

Cold Toes

A Poem by Crimson Apples
"

I was locked out.

"
Their screams echo,
skin colder than snow.
Why? they ask,
with jaws stiff from the cold
They waited for a response
But their souls were sold
And no answer was given
to the damned and unforgiven

Author's Note

Crimson Apples
I was locked out of my house one winter's day, and my toes were screaming in agony. So I wrote this poem. Ever get the inspiration from the weirdest things?

"some say the world will end in fire/ some say in ice." -Frost, "Fire and Ice"
when i first read this, my reaction was, ok, a poem. short and simple. but the more i thought about it, the more i like this. you say it was based off Dante's 9th hole of hell, and while i am not familiar with Dante's levels of hell, i was reminded of Frost's famous apocalyptic poem. it is just another take.
