Baracades

Baracades

A Poem by Melissa
"

Sometimes people have a hard time accepting you for what you are and always seek to get from you more than you can give and this poem stems from that.

"

Barricades

When we can't get beyond
"THIS"
What's left?

I've bled out.
You circle and swoop
a vulture with blood lust.

Your voracious smacking
has consumed my ears;
You've pecked my eyes
with relentless accusations;
Ripped my flesh with
boorish talk!

Ah, look around now.
You're alone.
The price you pay
is costly.

Go on groom
your prideful feathers.
Your squawks go unanswered.

"THIS"
was your aim, right?
Erecting barricades.

The analogy in this piece is stunning and poignant! The stark imagery gave crisp vision to this vulture swooping in for the kill and soon after, grooming his self-satisfying ego. How ironic it is, that humanity takes pleasure in exalting themselves at the cost of others. I am certain that people with this mentality do so because they have such a poor image of themselves.

A very important thing to remember when others seem to push you down with their prideful badgering is: Vultures have nothing over the EAGLE!

~spread your wings in spite of them - excellent write~
