Everything You Are

Everything You Are

A Poem by Bec

You can run

You can hide

Run into another place

Crawl under the nearest space

But I can see you

Everything that you are

A voice without sound

And dirt on the ground

Everything that you are

Yeah that is you

Everything that you are

A fire without flame

A thing with no name

Everything that you are

You can lie

You pretend

Cry all day and every night

Scream into a blackened hole

But nothing can change

Everything that you are

A voice without sound

And dirt on the ground

Everything that you are

Yeah that is you

Everything that you are

An unloaded gun

And victory for none

Everything that you are

You can walk

You can talk

Fly all over this whole world

Go to anywhere you like

Here, there, everywhere

Everything that you are

A voice without sound

And dirt on the ground

Yeah that is you

Everything that you are

A scared little mouse

With nothing to give

Everything that you are

A voice without sound

And dirt on the ground

Yeah that is you

Everything that you are

You, you, you

Everything that you are

This is either the voice of an angry God or that of a wronged lover. I suspect the latter. The bitterness and contempt, especially in the next to last verse, can only come from a human being.
