Who's That At Your Door?A Poem by Rebecca RaineI wrote this the day after someone tried to break into my house. I freaked myself out with it.
Who's that at your door?
He's here uninvited. He waits with a knife in hand, longing for your blood to run out of your veins. He's climbed through your window, he'll be coming for you soon. You are unaware of his intrusion, you're sleeping a good sleep and dreaming a good dream. He's found your door. A crooked smile breaks across his demented face. He can sense your doom and he welcomes it. He is the only one. His grip on his pointy blade tightens. Your warm being is near and it excites him. Do you sense your end is near? Are you aware of the horror awaiting you the moment you open your eyes? He's standing by your bed. He's waiting for you to notice him. You never noticed him before. But now you will. You turn over and an eye slides open. You don't know him, but he knows you. Oh how he knows you. You won't get the chance to get to know him. His knife is sinking into your stomach now. Again. And again. And again.
