Imagine Draco 3 (Harry Potter fanfic)A Story by Beck Louisedraco malfoy fan fiction
Where was he? Why was he not here? It was all too much for you to take. You sat, not even daring to speak as Snape scanned his dark, cold eyes over the tables of students. Some of the first years could barely contain their tears as they shook in their seats. You recognised the Carrows behind him, your dad had warned you about them. They were some of the most ruthless of dark wizards. Your stomach was twisting horribly. You had never been afraid at Hogwarts before. It was supposed to be the safest place in the wizard world. There was complete silence in the great hall, the first time you had ever heard it so.
"Welcome" Snape hissed, quietly, but it wasn't the usual welcome you got from Dumbledore. This welcome was cold, bitter, almost said with a resentment, a hate. He surveyed all the quivering students, hiding themselves within the masses, hoping he wouldn't spot them, fearing him, it would give him the fuel he needed to shame them further. "Now, before the year starts, I would like to make it extremely clear; things at Hogwarts will be very different this year" You saw McGonagall looking worried, her face looking pained and sleep deprived. "Discipline in past years has been, lax, to say the the least. Disobedience will not be tolerated and will be met with punishment matching the severity of the incident." The rest of his supposed "Welcome" speech was much the same, the first years had turned pale and lifeless, quivering pathetically, trying not to be seen. When everyone was dismissed he demanded order and everyone was made to walk out in ranks. You could already see the pain of the following year. All this was made worse by the fact that Draco wasn't here. He'd been so distracted last year that you had spent the majority of the time arguing. With everything going on with you know who, you worried for him. You knew of his family's association with the dark arts. His father had been a death eater. Was he still a death eater? what did this mean for Draco if he was? What did it mean for you two together? The son of a death eater being with the daughter of an order member, the daughter of what lesser wizards would describe as a "half breed". He would be forbidden. His family hated you anyway, a proud Gryffindor and a supporter of Dumbledore. You lay down on your bed, trying to calm your mind down enough to sleep, which you imagined would be impossible. Your eyes were closed and you were drifting away slowly. Your eyes jerked open as something knocked at the window. You saw a small grey owl, tapping its beak lightly on the window. Opening it, the owl flew in, setting itself down on your bed frame. You untied the paper attached to its leg ignoring its attempt in getting any kind of food from you. Unrolling the parchment, you recognised the writing immediately. "Meet me at the boathouse at 11:30pm. Can't explain now, Draco" You threw the letter onto the bed, sighing. How could you possibly get to the boathouse at that time of night. No doubt Snape would have done everything he could to stop students wandering after hours, and you didn't really fancy the severe punishment he had offered earlier. You racked your brain desperately, searching for any small hint of an idea. It was 11 now, you had precious little time for planning. Of course, how could you possibly have forgotten. You rummaged in your case, pulling out the invisibility cloak your dad had given you, in case of emergencies. You put it on straight away, not risking anyone seeing you. Passing the crowds of Gryffindors in the common room was easy, there was so much noise and so many people that no one even noticed you pass through. You had to sneak through the halls, trying to breathe as lightly as possible, going as slow as time permitted. You got to the boat house relatively quickly, looking around, making sure there was no one there. You still didn't dare remove the cloak. Death eaters could be anywhere. You saw his hair first, and you nearly ran into his arms, but then you remembered you were trying to be angry at him for not contacting you all summer. You took the cloak off, and he looked around. He started to reach for his wand, the noise had obviously startled him. He relaxed when he saw you. "Oh, hi" this made you even more angry "Hi? really?" He stepped back, swallowing. "Sorry" he knew exactly why you were angry "That's all you have to say? cos an explanation would be a little better!" You were still whispering, you didn't need anyone finding you down here. God knows the punishment would be brutal. "I need you to calm down before I tell you this" "I'm calm." You said simply, wanting him to get on with it. "Right. " He took a deep breath, keeping his eyes closed as he spoke "My father is still a death eater" You stood, blinking at him. You had always kind of known, but him telling you had taken you by surprise. "Oh" You didn't know how you managed to sound so nonchalant. Inside you were screaming out. But he wasn't finished. He looked pained, and you saw tears filling his eyes. "It was my fault" He breathed, looking to the ground in shame "What was?" You were confused. Worry was overtaking this though as you saw a tear fall down his pale cheek. "Dumbledore, dying" Your heart nearly stopped "How could it possibly be your fault?" You hardly got these words out. He looked up at you, shamefully, looking more upset as he spoke again, in a broken whisper "It was meant to be me. I was meant to kill him." He kept on looking at you, but you couldn't look back. Your eyes had glazed over and you had stopped breathing completely. The words wouldn't allow themselves to sink in. They hit you like a ton of bricks and your mind was attacked by fifty thousand voices screaming at you. "You're one of them" You choked, not able to look at him. You felt sick to your stomach. "No, no, I swear. I'm not one of them, I'm not a death eater! I need your help I don't know what to do! I can't get away. You're all I have" he looked so helpless, like a small child, so vulnerable. But you couldn't forget what he'd just said. "You were going to do it." He looked up "What?" "Kill Dumbledore...You went out with the intention of killing him, didn't you." He didn't have to say anything, you knew what his silence meant. "That's why you were so distant all year, so cold." You still didn't look his way. "You knew all year. You knew all year and you didn't say anything. You pretended there was nothing wrong, all the while you were preparing for this sick initiation task. How could you?" You spat, getting angry now. "I couldn't tell you! You wouldn't have understood, I had to! He was going to kill me!" He broke down now, sobbing. You felt heartless, horrible, but you couldn't stand there and listen to him pity himself any longer. You turned and walked away. "Where are you going? wait!" You stopped, not turning, you didn't want to look him in the eyes, you might crack and feel sorry for him. "Please don't leave me. I need you. I love you." Now it was your turn to cry. You loved him too, more than you could express, but you couldn't stay. "I have to go" You swept the invisibility cloak over you again and ran now, crying hysterically. You never cried so much in your life. You had trusted him, believed he was different. You had fallen completely in love with him. You felt horribly betrayed and sickened. The thing that sickened you the most though, was the fact that despite all that had just happened, you knew you would still love him. Your head hurt. You had so much to think about, what were you supposed to do? To be continued.... © 2012 Beck Louise |
