Imagine Harry (Harry Potter fanfic)A Story by Beck Louise
There was so much commotion over the tournament. Everywhere you went there was something that linked to it, a banner, a badge, a poster, anything. You didn't need any reminders of it any more. The feeling of excitement had disappeared completely to be replaced with a horrible lingering nervousness. How could you possibly join in on the excitement and rejoicing? Harry's name had been called. Harry. You found yourself no longer looking at the fun of the whole event, and rather, dreading it. You were scared for him, but you felt helpless and powerless. There was nothing in this world you could do to get him out of this. Added onto all of this was your confusion and anger as to how he even ended up being chosen as a champion. The rules were clear, one champion from each house and they had to be over seventeen. Something was going on, something bad. Your mind couldn't help but imagine all of the bad things, all the possibilities, all of the nasty people scheming and plotting to hurt him. You shook your head, hoping the thoughts would disappear. You took a seat in the great hall, which had become a task in itself because of the amount of extra students. Hermione immediately sat down next to you, closing in, whispering anxiously.
"Has he said anything yet?" being that Ron wasn't speaking to Harry, it was you and Hermione who were left to help him. You shook your head and Hermione gave a sigh of frustration. "I'm worried about him" You whisper, afraid if you speak that you might break down in tears. She puts a comforting arm on your shoulder. "Don't worry, he has the best help he can get. He has Dumbledore" She flashes you a reassuring smile, but as she turns away you see the worried look reappear on her face. The day of the first task dawns all too soon. Harry has barely spoke to anyone since the champions were chosen. You need to speak to him today, before the first task, so you sneak up to the champions tent, carefully avoiding the teachers and officials standing outside. You peak into the tent and see Harry, pale and anxious looking. "Harry!" You may as well not have bothered whispering at all. Everyone turns and you quickly duck out of sight, screwing your face up and muttering some choice swear words. You look up to see the gap in the tent move and Harry emerges just as you get to your feet. "What are you doing?" He sounds angry and you back away slightly. "I just wanted to say good luck" You mumble, your cheeks getting hot. You suddenly feel like a small child being scolded. "What, and you couldn't have said that this morning?" "I didn't see you this morning!" You raise your voice, annoyed that he is being so cold about it "You've been avoiding me, so who's fault is that?" You nearly scream this last bit "I've not been avoiding you" He looks to the floor, kicking one of the rocks away "Oh, really?" You quiz "I've just been nervous, and scared, wouldn't you be?" "Don't give me that tone!" You turn red as you remind yourself of Mrs Weasley talking to Ron "I've done nothing but try to help you! You wanna push me away, that's fine! But don't expect me to come back!" He looks up then, obviously wounded by these words. "What do you mean?" His voice is cracking and you're shocked to see him look so vulnerable. "If you don't want me here then I'll go. For good." You're determined to make your point "No, you can't" He sounds so pathetic and child-like now that you soften up slightly. "Well, what's it going to be then?" "Of course I want you here, but more than that, I need you here." His eyes are welling with tears "I'm so sorry for being like this with you, but I don't know how else to be" He shifts awkwardly "And it's because..well because" You raise your eyebrows expectantly "Well it's because I Love You" You lose all your anger. You just stand there, open mouthed like some kind of simpleton. "What?" You feel stupid for saying that, you know exactly what he said, but all words have left you now. "I Love you too" You smile now. "Champions!" You hear Dumbledore inside the tent and Harry jerks his head, knowing he has to leave. He takes your hands and looks you straight in the eye. "Don't ever forget that, ever" and then he's gone. © 2012 Beck Louise |
