Acceptance

Acceptance

A Poem by Darrin Reay
"

This was a poem written when my father passed away.

"

The fiery sky

late at dawn

echoes a warning of thunder.

Awoken by

a ruthless storm

that makes my mind plunder

into itself.

Followed by

a gentle breeze

as though it just wasn’t there.

A dangerous voice

saying, “please,

it is so very rude to stare

at yourself.”

A hurricane

was yet to come

and to put my mind at rest.

That maybe

if I was just gone

I would finally be blessed

by your presence.

But way up there,

a smiling face

had brought to life a light.

Somewhere in

this darkened place

my path was lit up bright

with acceptance.

Thanks for sharing. This is the second month of my dad's passing, it was his birthday as well, a week ago. I shall bring with me the last few lines: "Somewhere in
this darkened place
my path was lit up bright
with acceptance."

Thanks most kindly for having shared this.

Hard to accept the death of a loved one, but we must find a way. We must carry on as they would have wanted us to. Very emotional write filled with grief, but also hope. I liked it. Lydi**

the storm within when we lose someone we love...we hope to be reunited with them someday...maybe after the storm subsides...and we can finally rest...we may see them up there in that beautiful azure sky.
really nice piece that mixes sadness with hope.

The speaker apparently takes the lightening of the sky to be something of an omen, a word from the beyond to leave grief behind and walk a new path. Who's to say? Stranger things have happened.

Destiny has always been keeping secrets, exposes at least expected times.
Your alive to hold tight to your father's memories till your end you reach but when one soul is taken from this cosmos, rarely anything on earth changes; everything gets up on the track after a time.
Have a blessed life, ameen :)
