ChangeA Poem by ReavirThis helped calm my mind this morning. I hope it helps calm yours too. It's meant to be read slowly, taking in the meaning of each line and feeling it in your body, sort of like a meditation.Life is change Change comes and goes like the breath Ebbs and flows like the tides Waxes and wanes like the moon. When life is change, we can hold so tightly that sometimes, something breaks We can't stop or control the tides, and we can't stop or control the flow of life We can only experience the movement, feel the water flow, appreciate what the tide brings into our world, and then let it pass. Sit down and close your eyes Feel your body Feel your emotions Where are they in your body? Can you feel them? The tension in your forehead, between your brows, in your jaw Your neck, your shoulders, your hands Your throat, your chest Your stomach Your thighs, your calves, and your toes Are you holding tightly? Exhale. Sit with these feelings Allow them space in your body Allow them to just... be You don't need to name them They aren't good or bad They just are They will come, and they will go No judgement, just awareness. Ah, there you are I see you there Hello again Welcome. Sit with your experience Be curious Say hello It's ok These feelings are natural They will come, they will ebb and flow, they will change, and they will pass They're safe You're safe Your body is safe Trust yourself. What else are we experiencing? The flow of the breath pulling air down into our lungs The breeze on our faces The gentle weight of gravity on our bodies The soft touch of fabric on our skin The smell of fresh air The sound of the wind whispering in the trees Birds greeting the dawn Or simply silence Peace. Sit with your awareness Feel it in your body Notice how your awareness waxes and wanes Ebbs and flows Wanders off Ah, there you are Gently guide it back to your body It's safe here Feel the emotions in your body Notice what your senses are bringing you Sit here with them They will come and they will go Everything changes Everything passes And that is good. There is no timeline for healing Everyone has their own journey Crutches can help us when we are injured But we want to walk and run and dance again This will take time Healing is not linear But it is yours And by taking this time, you are taking time for yourself You are worthy You are of value This is self-care This is self-love.
