3. Light
The Distant horizon
once more you reach out
hoping to grasp
to take hold of the further distancing light
but every second you spend trying to touch
is every second more you become entrenched in a deafening blackness
It slithers out of your reach every time you come close
The light is like a addiction
the flame of your candle
or the key to your souls cage
the keystone of your arch
and the walls of your house
but its so taken for granted
that the only time you may even acknowledge its existence is when it longer exists
How could you handle a world with no light
a eternal abyss of night
what about a world with no rain and no sun
but just clouds
a never ending sea of white.
Like a plant
or a flower
we need light to exist and grow
to belong
The light is a guide to success and completion
without light the world would become a house of thorns
difficulties, dilemma's
But you have lived a long time
so long that you can turn your back on the sun
and still have your shadow face towards the light
The light is so acknowledged in your being that
darkness has a clasp on your heart
and you are slowly drowning in a empty nothingness
you twist and turn
only know do you want it
the feeling of warmth to wash over you
to feel a light blanket to cover your freezing body
but as you twist towards the distanced light
curtains of darkness suffocate you
choking your existence
the once welcoming two-faced night has now become menacing
you pray for a release
and as you slowly raise your hand
the fingers open wide
like your about to grasp onto something
you fight back the dark ooze that sticks you so tightly to itself
Finally your fingers brush the very fabric of the light
the very strings of a ribbon
and as you close your hand tightly
clutching as hard as to whiten your knuckles
you draw the fist close to your chest, to cherish its warmth
to feel some happiness
but as you open your hands there is no light any more
The light was what your soul was once
the path you chose is one of no light
so now as you fall downwards for a eternity
in a never ending blur of nothing but darkness
you soon come to realise
In life there is no Happy Ending
Even for those who expel any hint of darkness
die sometime...
