Things get better

Things get better

A Story by Reanne

a father, on the hunt to be the Alpha male by beating his wife and kids. A childhood where school was more safe then home. Nightmares so real panic attacks would stike in my sleep. We talk about domestic violence like once it stops it's over. It never stops. The nightmares last for a life time, the flinching then someone raise's the hand or shouts at you.

Even at the age of 22 I dream of the all the hate the negativity and the punishment of my childhood. At the age of 22 I fall into panic attacks from nightmares. You never think about the after affect. "Once your father leaves, everything will get better" it doesn't. Years later, they follow you. Always there. Haunting us.

I love the style and mood of your piece! It really gives out that terrified kind of feeling coming off your narrator. Nice ending!
