From Beginning to End

From Beginning to End

A Poem by Tiffany
"

A poem about coming to terms with a relationship and all the little thoughts that pop up into someone's head.

"
You are the first thing on my mind when the day begins
And the last thing I think of when it ends.
As cliché as that may sound, it’s the truth.
The first time I see you, I see your smile
from across the room as soon as your lips
curve. Every single day I remind myself
to remember your smile so I can remember
how a good day begins.

After our hello, your lips touch mine
and I don’t want that moment to end.
I can’t help but smile
because I know you are mine and it’s true.
To ruin the moment, I think of the truth.
I suddenly remember that your smile
might not last. That’s when I begin
to realize that all good things come to an end.

One day, your lips will no longer touch my lips.
You will find out the truth
About who I am and we will reach our end.
You will no longer remember and treasure our moments,
but begin
life with another girl who will trigger that smile.

Once again, I will be the girl who can’t smile.
My lips
will no longer touch yours and I will begin
to realize the cold hard truth once I remember
what I did to reach this end.
We reach the end of our kiss and I forget to smile.
I play it off by acting that I remembered
something about a test in a class as my lips
are no longer attached to yours.

The truth is that I cannot begin
to think positively about what my smile
and lips will mean once you learn the truth
and remember
our relationship,
from beginning to end.
