My Website, Blogging, Social Networking, All Of Chastity's Men, Across The Street, Etc.A Story by RealistMeI'm updating friends about my latest activities regarding my website, blogging, social networking, my short stories, etc.
How's it going, writers? Sorry that I haven't been posting on Writers Cafe, lately. I've mostly been busy on my website and social networking on Horror-Punks, Vivaldi, Blogster, and of course on stalkbook. LOL! Most of my time is spent on my website, It's Not All Gumdrops & Unicorns. I've really been working hard on my site. I recently changed the scenery back to the sunshine, rainbows, and clouds. I'll keep that scenery for about a month.
Then, I'll try going with a more "patriotic" appearance, since Memorial Day,
Flag Day (which is my birthday), and Independence Day are all in May,
June, and early July. After Independence Day, I'll probably change my scenery,
again. LOL!
Yesterday, I did some more dabbling with my site by adding the 2 categories, Song Saturday and Cartoon Sunday. I blog at least twice a week. Since my Song Saturday and Cartoon Sunday blogs are the main features on It's Not All Gumdrops & Unicorns, I learned how to organize them into 2 different categories. Now, whenever someone clicks onto my "Blog" section, he/she will see the categories "Song Saturday" and "Cartoon Sunday." I adopted Blogster's Song Saturday because it's a fun and entertaining concept. This somewhat applies to Cartoon Sunday. To the best of my knowledge, no other site has a Cartoon Sunday. I created Cartoon Sunday because I'm not the only adult, who reads blogs and watches animation. With Song Saturday and Cartoon Sunday, my viewers will read, listen, and watch fun content on my website, while being informed about other topics simultaneously. I originally created It's Not All Gumdrops & Unicorns as a writing platform for my short stories. My website has evolved into having more than 1 function. I only posted 1 of my short stories on my website, which was originally bound in my college chapbook. It's in my website's "Stories" section. However, that section is restricted from public access. Only members of my website can read it. Even though that 1 particular short story was and still is bound in my chapbook, it's still unpublished. The last thing I need is for someone to steal my work, whether he/she wants to claim it as his/her own, sell it, turn a profit, or make a fan fiction story with it. BTW: I do NOT respect and support fan fiction writers. It's 1 thing to pay homage to a writer but it's another steal someone's work and re-write it for his/her personal liking. My short story, "Dolls" (which I renamed to being "Across The Street") was originally a Creative Writing assignment. We had to pay homage to a writer. Mine was a combination of homages. "Across The Street" was an homage to Octavio Paz's story, "The Blue Bouquet," James O'Barr's The Crow, and KoRn's Follow The Leader album cover (inside). At the same time, I incorporated my own story and characters in "Across The Street." Most people, including my Creative Writing professor loved my short horror story. I think it falls under the Horror Flash Fiction category. You might be wondering how I've been doing with "All Of Chastity's Men." It's still a work in progress. I have ~18 hand written pages. I left off with my crooked cop ex-boyfriend from 8 years ago. Therefore, I still have a little more than 1/2 way to go. "All Of Chastity's Men" is a bit of a Semi-Fiction Flashback Love Story, that will have Horror and Thriller elements to it. I re-wrote the opening a few months ago. It begins with Chastity's old crush, Alan being held hostage and tortured in her basement. She tells him what her love life was like, after they graduated from high school and when she went to college. Chastity will also tell Alan about his lying, scheming, backstabbing friends, who purposely lured her to their 10-year class reunion, only to break her heart. I plan on adding more to the story. I don't know how many pages "All of Chastity's Men" will be. I also don't know if it will be considered a short story, novelette, or a novel. I'm only playing things by ear. That's basically all I have to say for now. Let me know what you think! © 2014 RealistMe |
