This is a link to my website's latest blog about zombies.
How's it going, writers? This
is the latest entry to my website, It's Not All Gumdrops &
Unicorns. You're welcome to stop by and leave comments. I'll respond to
you as soon as possible. Anyway, here's the link to my latest entry:
Good point. I just stumbled over this since last year I wrote a lot about zombies. To me it was still a new concept, and not as popular as the franchises over werewolves and vampires. I can't fathom either unless it's used in a creative way that I can tolerate. Zombies however may not look well on the movie screen, but different forms of zombies in videogames have been a hit. The Last of Us, L4D2, and a bunch of others make implicate zombies into good videogames. Other times though, for movies, especially for horror, I would like to see something other than what I havent seen. With horror, I've seen ghosts (Paranormal Activity, etc) that just did not give the excitement. Something new like the concepts of Sinister, and the Silent Hill series should be more recognized. Silent Hill (originally videogame series came out with two movies, the recent being Silent Hill: Revelation), created monsters depending on the main character's fears.

It's an OOOOOOLLLLLDD concept. In fact, most of today's horror movies are reboots. The horror genre probably has the most reboots over this last decade. It would be nice to see somebody try to do something different from always focusing on vampires, werewolves, and zombies. People can find horror in just about anything. Instead, most choose to limit themselves to these 3 sub-genres because they're the most "trendy," right now. I remember when being a horror fan was a very niche and "weird" sub-culture and sub-genre. Horror fans were labeled "weirdos" and "creeps." With Twilight being so damn popular, it not only tainted the horror genre, but also emasculated male vampires and men in general. Now, that Twilight's over, Hollywood thought they could capitalize off that dumb Warm Bodies zombie movie. Hollywood thought they could draw in the Twerd demographic, which mostly consist of delusional teenage girls and some married, as well as divorced women. LOL! It's like Romeo & Juilet on acid.

Although I somewhat liked Warm Bodies (it was pretty cheesy, but funny to look at ), I have to say Twilight tainted the whole vampires/werewolves conception. Being a teenager, I'm surrounded by so many fangirls who think they are creative for using the vampire element. The only person who I thought used vampires creatively was only one. And that was because it didn't go off as what a person might think. Although Meyer created Twilight, I loved The Host a lot. Not so much the movie spinoff Hollywood horribly made, but the actual book. Otherwise I wish there was stuff portrayed big on movie screens for the world to see, like the fantastical worlds of Miyazaki films (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, The Wind Rises, Secret World of Arietty, Nausicaa) and maybe even some animes portrayed into Hollywood films (or aspects of it anyway.) Something like Homestuck on the big screen would be wonderful if it could be organized carefully to be a good movie, not a rushed crappy one. Now everyone is obsessed with the Walking Dead (which honestly I don't know why, it's another horror zombie series about survivalists), and suddenly out of the blue, so many crappy vampire films are spouting out of nowhere. iwantsomedifferenceinmovies

I've read blogs and watched YouTube vlogs where most always say, "I think zombies are overused but I like watching The Walking Dead." LOL! The Walking Dead contributes to the zombie overkill. I've actually grown bored with the horror genre these last several to 10 years. When Hollywood filmmakers aren't remaking/rebooting old horror movies from the 70's, 80's, and 90's (especially remaking/rebooting J-Horror in America) they're abusing CGI, making s****y "found footage" movies like Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project, and the acting is terrible. Some horror is just better as stories. Stories allow your imagination to run wild because everything seems more frightening in your mind than what they really appear to be.
I wrote you there. Wouldn't you like to keep your writings here, Realist ?

I thought Writer's Cafe had more of a blogging community. Even though it has a blogging section, nobody reads blogs on here. The most popular section on Writer's Cafe is the poetry section. I need to generate enough traffic to my website rather than be isolated. Writer's Cafe is good for workshopping poems and short stories. Other than these 2 things, it's not that spectacular.

I am a creature of habit more than anything. I do like the novelty of changing backgrounds which should be irrelevant to writing but I like it. Also as you said, this site seems to be geared more toward poetry and I really don't care for poetry. I'm still looking for my spot in the world I guess.

Either way, it's very hard for me to generate traffic like when we were on Xanga 1.0. I'm SLOWLY developing subscribers on Blogster because they mostly want to argue about politics and quote Bible verses, if they're not using Blogster as their personal stalkbook account. LOL!
