Single Nights

Single Nights

A Poem by KTizzle
"

a poem about being single

"
Last night
I kissed a guy
and tasted vodka
with a tinge of bar smoke
mesmerized by the way his eyes spoke.
I followed his sultry voice
outside where his hands found my hips
and I licked the freedom off his lips
the freedom in knowing I can forget his name,
in knowing he will forget mine
in knowing I could get lost in a good time
But we only kissed
and when he left, I smiled.
It felt good to be wild once in awhile.

This is an amazing poem, I'm glad that you're writing about something which can be quite a taboo subject, especially for women. Some of the lines in this are so beautiful, "I licked the freedom off his lips" is a personal favourite. Beautiful.

Hm, yes it was quite interesting indeed. At least nothing bad came of it, in fact quite the opposite I'd say, you got a wonderful poem out of it in exchange. :)

As everybody before me has said, this is a good poem, one of the best I have read from you. In the interest of offering input I'm going to be a grammar natzi for a moment and say that the biggest improvement you could make would be capitalizing all lines, or non of them. Or add commas in what I think was intended to be a list. Again, it's a good poem, and stands just fine the way it is!

Well done. You have a great skill painting images with well chosen words. There are some great lines in this - I particularly like 'mesmerized by the way his eyes spoke. I followed his sultry voice' and 'licked the freedom off his lips'
It didn't feel like it would only end in a kiss but then if it had to progress further it wouldn't be freedom!
This is really great work - subtle and simple.

Alan

I like the carnal edge to this.
I like that it was mutual.
Eyes that spoke with a sultry voice...is a lovely mixing of the senses and gives a good sense of wild abandon.
These memories make us smile and the world will wonder 'what is she smiling about...?'
Nicely done Jazz Lover.

You captured the moment. Seems as though you had a good time based on the way this was written.
