Emotionless

Emotionless

A Poem by ReaThoughts

Upon decomposing sheets

with legs tucked inwards

and eyes cast down

her chest contracts

like a steady heartbeat.

Haunted memories caress

cracked and brittle skin

with much less fondness

than a lover.

She disappears into silence

a darkness she clings to

when no one else listens

or cares enough to speak.

There would be tears

if she had any left to give

but her body is drenched

from a recent downpour.

Despite the phone beside her

she understands she is alone

and if she disappears

like dust when the wind blows

no one would notice.

And being disposable

is a terrifying thought.

Just, yes. This does describe quite a lonely feeling. And though sometimes this kind of loneliness can be desired and met with solace, other times, it is just terrifying. I hope that this feeling didn't last for too long. But even so, it created something wonderful to read. Thank you for that.

I can really feel the melancholy and depression in this poem. The flow of your thoughts and words came out very vivid and bold. It was a great piece. :)

A very sad poem. You create a lonely place. Your description allowed the reader to feel the knowledge of accepting the final place.
"And being disposable
is a terrifying thought."
The above line made the poem complete. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
