Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Robin
"

in between

"

a black-winged dove

hovered near the moon

as a fist thundered through the wall

she was sinking into her tears

feeling the barbs from her pillow of dreams

twisted shadows taunting

drunken echoes

in this endless night

and how she could feel them

a million eyes , staring

outside her broken window

there , down there

in the streets , those dirty streets

away from their beds

sleepless

'and how she could feel them

a million eyes , staring'

quite brilliant in its effect, we are drawn into her nightmare vision with an intense and very immediate flow of images. i loved the way you broke up the flow towards the end with a change of rhythm, the last word light in texture. stunning!

I know this feeling all too well,

'feeling the barbs from her pillow of dreams

twisted shadows taunting'

'a million eyes, staring'
and feeling as though people can see right through you to your anguish.

Such a lovely way to put a horror to words. Well done my friend.

The scene for me splits between Rage, Fear, Vice, and what I remember from my football days as called "Nailing The Numbers". Nice feeling of the chest caving in just a little bit to make a pair of lungs slightly annoying due to a major shock of brute force words.

wonderful poem Robin and i love the black winged dove,
so much of what bad dreams are. And the eyes of darkness of course.

Tis a poem of greatness.....has a Mardi Gras feel to it, not sure why other than the million eyes in those streets, those dirty streets. and of course the insomnia, too. lol

Genius, really.

the agony caused by internal demons beautifully displayed in the tones of a funeral march devoid of hope

The image you have created is all too real...I feel angry and yet powerless to protect her. We live in a crazy world where things like this happen more often that I even want to think about.

I'm such a fan. Shallow reply - but then when something leaves you speechless, its the only thing you have.
