Evanescence

Evanescence

A Poem by Robin
"

Moments

"

I'm riding the tail of a comet

watching the sparks of something else

glitter into the neither of ether

pondering Venus and a waxing crescent at sundown

there is a mockingbird in the elm

an old cat snapping her tail

crouching behind a misty window

it's cold , november cold

clear , sharp

and I hear another siren wail

I hold my breath

and sink into the night

remembering your kiss

on a night like this  ...

many of your poems have a highly descriptive quality, and this one belongs to that category. the way you set up the stage to make the reader get a glimpse of "a night like this" from the past is a literal painting. and you are so damn good with the brush...

Love this! It's just so purely pretty, which is something poems can often forget to be. I really like the lurking rhymes and almost-meter. Favourite line: 'glitter into the neither of ether'.

Your detail is so clear and makes this work just come alive--I too, love the second stanza--

You make a cold, November night desireable, even to a summer person such as myself. One reason I enjoy reading others' works is to gain a new perspective, learn to look at things in a different light. That is what this poem did for me.

it's as if your consciousness has become atomized and is drifting or permeating creation's fire

You blend creation into this prismatic fusion of beauty one can't help but stand in awe over. Nature and its patterns, its smells, its sounds.. triggering the cogs that hold simple but potent memories of yesteryear. Oh... to be a synapse in the electrical current of your mind.

the moments here... so vast and full of greatness and wondrous beauty.
'the neither of ether' is a line as huge as i've ever read.

you move from circumnavigating the universe, to the chill november window, to the internal landscape of the memory of a moment.

this may be my new favorite of yours.
