The Shattering

The Shattering

A Poem by Robin
"

moments like this

"

it was just a moment

like one of the thousand that blur by

as you go through the day

a little bird

a sparrow

resting on a concrete curb

puffed feathers

feeling the sun

or maybe it was the dandelion

bent over the grass

in the summer wind

trying to keep wishes intact

when he turned

and looked into my eyes

and that moment ...

 shattered

I could hear her voice

see her finger point

a smile on her face

in world some would call hell

and how that smile would last for the rest of the day

her whispering

" bird "

and all I wanted , was some french fries

it's part of the melange of life. Lightening strikes all the time, we mostly don't notice it. When the emotions are raw, brought out and stretched, the "fine" mixes with the large and the hidden fissures spiderweb... we get a glimpse of the beauty of the design and how it all blends together. Some can see it, others understand it, a minority shatter, and then there is the special few that having communed with it, then choose to create with it..... Robin is one of those special few.

aren't moments like this the whole reason for being? these are wonderful words, I am liable to carry them with me for the rest of the day

i think it was the dandelion

the magic of time, concrete, birds and a dandelion 'trying to keep wishes intact'
and the uniquely human 'wanted... some french fries'
makes for a great poem

evanescence, the implied focusing in on a moment, shattered

isn't it amazing how sometimes our own wishes are turned insignificant by some gesture? :)...one word, one sound, one smile, and the center of the world is moved...

See now this is how nature should be used in poetry, to display something, a mood or paint the feel, I think you must be some kind of nature whisperer, or whisperer of life, in tones of ink…Yes, Emma has it right, ‘You are a poet.”

Great Write Robin!

Capturing the precious, beautiful little moments and how they're shaded by this cold reality.

the way things can shatter us at any given moment, in the middle of any ordinary thing. i feel the heaviness here, but also the deeper river of momentous joy that runs beneath. you are able to sink through the moments and rest in deeper shining waters. ... now to see where the river will take you.

A painted moment caught in the mind's fingers, a memory of fragile awareness .. then, reality. You are, poet.
