The Shattering

The Shattering

A Poem by Robin
"

moments like this

"

it was just a moment

like one of the thousand that blur by

as you go through the day

a little bird

a sparrow

resting on a concrete curb

puffed feathers

feeling the sun

or maybe it was the dandelion

bent over the grass

in the summer wind

trying to keep wishes intact

when he turned

and looked into my eyes

and that moment ...

 shattered

I could hear her voice

see her finger point

a smile on her face

in world some would call hell

and how that smile would last for the rest of the day

her whispering

" bird "

and all I wanted , was some french fries

it's part of the melange of life. Lightening strikes all the time, we mostly don't notice it. When the emotions are raw, brought out and stretched, the "fine" mixes with the large and the hidden fissures spiderweb... we get a glimpse of the beauty of the design and how it all blends together. Some can see it, others understand it, a minority shatter, and then there is the special few that having communed with it, then choose to create with it..... Robin is one of those special few.

you have captured the mundane some would say and with sharp focused observation and emotional narrative thrown in - it's perfect

Thankyou Robin for this...For me it made me think...we dont know what we have got until it is gone. And reminds me never to take anything for granted, although shamefully I often do. There is always an aura of peace around everything I read of yours and I never know how to define it. Thanks.

Robin, this piece sunk into me like the corpse of something greater than myself. Each line leads to the next. Each thought and image brands the mind. Each natural step flows gracefully and beautifully into the brick wall that means it is all real. A bird rests, a dandelion shatters, a magical word is spoken, and, F**k! I'm hungry for french fries! YEP. Love this. I am going to favorite it, and return to it often. When you jam...you jam! Cheers!

Oh, but it is moments such as this that catalyze the rest of our lives. Bitter or joyous they mold and change us, don't they? It came and brushed me by and I was never the same again.

a sparrow, a concrete curb, a dandelion, grass, things we may notice, our minds might observe and catalog, but rarely do find the time to really contemplate, or even "find life in". we think of ourself as too complicated, not sure where im going with this anymore, i just felt a burst or connections when reading this. very well done.

The way we perceive the world is everything...I love those moments of perception, oh, I'd love to fall into that world and never come back...for some reason I find myself wondering if we have lost our humanity and these moments of perception are humanity trying to find its way back into our world...oh, I love this one!

Ah!..That moment of revelation, clarity followed by that immense sense of tranquil in a day otherwise what would seem as ordinary.
So gentle and beautiful.
