Perhaps ...

I was once a Prince

heir to a garden

where flowers spoke of seasons

and the trees faced the Sun

maybe ...

I became a King

who held hands with Angels

shone the secrets of the stars

their pages woven within

my circular language

of blended  senses

uncounted saint

I have the holy books

in my pocket

next to a stone

I listened to the wise ones

nod , and then look away

and learned from a sage

where truth burned within her eyes

I bare this heart

I love how you ended this poem "I bare this heart" , that could be taken in so many ways, just that last line in correlation to each stanza, repeatedly stanza, one bare it as in express it, stanza two bare it as in carry it with you, stanza three bare it as in tolerate as a holy vessel would tolerate a wayward child, and stanza four I bare it as a cloak of wisdom, of truth and understanding, I bare this... this responsibility of earning such a huge and immaculate gift of truth inside those eyes...this is just a phenomenal poem Robin :)

Wow, great poem! For some reason it makes me thing of reincarnation and "inherited memories." Very interesting.

'and learned from a sage

where truth burned within her eyes'

i loved these lines. prince, king, saint... there is always a place in our imaginations and a place in our poetry where we can be free to be whoever we want, to explore new perspectives. fantastic.

You my friend are a god! you not only can listen, you also feel. It's a purity of yesteryears, and art with each breath your poetry to read, gasp, and exlplore... it seems to reach much more than any poet .... in richness, of the heart~ and soul.
I guess that is truly brave!

Thank you dear Robin, a treasure here again, and into my library!

it takes a lot to bare our heart...this is definitely "brave"---

and i like the religious analogy..the king, the stone like a ressurection...ressurection of the heart...for it to trust and let go again. the heart comes back to life.

It is brave to think thoughts of perhaps and maybe. And the heart we bear, sometimes is Crusader's shield.
Bravely.
