They asked if it was Worth it

They asked if it was Worth it

A Poem by Rayne Murray

They asked me if it was worth it
To love you wholeheartedly
I told them that love
Was a word foreign to me
They asked me if I happy
After you left me alone
I asked if they would be too
And they quickly changed their tone
They told me I was lucky
To handle it so well
They didn’t understand
Just how hard I had fell
They asked me if I missed you
I told them like a fish misses the sea
They asked me if I thought
If you were missing me
I told them it wasn’t likely
That you were probably glad
That you tossed me aside
With no sympathy to be had
I told them that I understood
Why you decided to leave
That you had to cleanse your life
Through a fine metal sieve
And I was just to much of a commitment
To fit through that tiny slot
And so I’m glad you didn’t force me
Because I care for me a lot
