A love likeA Poem by Rayne Murray
I loved you more than you
Could ever see feel or do I loved you like Like a kid loves his bike like a dog loves his food And rings love to tell the mood I loved you more than you could ever hear taste or would Like wolves love the sight Of the pale moonlight at night Right? But you loved me Like a trout loves the sea Like a dog loves fruit And a rich man loves a poorly made suit You could live with it and some doubt Or simply live without I loved you so very very much As much as you should taste or touch As much as you should’ve loved me I was a prisoner and I thought you the key But you were never locked In a cell While I had tried to reach heaven from hell And I thought you were my paradise But I rolled the wrong pair of dice You were too precise And I was too nice I I thought you loved me but it was a lie I told myself then you said goodbye and I I loved you more than anyone Even the big beautiful sun And you never loved me Because you were a lake and I was the sea © 2016 Rayne Murray |
