The clown

The clown

A Poem by Rayne Murray

I'm just a clown
I make people laugh
I humor them
Make their problems seem distant
But some people
Think that clowns are scary
That they are evil
That they want to hurt you
But that's probably because
Some do
Every clown has a dark side
Some chose to show it
Are you one of those clowns?
You may ask
You tell me
Does the clown you so adore
Have a hidden secret
A silenced blood lust?
A desperate need to extract fear?
You tell me
After all I'm just a clown
I entertain you
I know your darkest secrets
And your fears
The very thing that drives you off the deep end
Sitting back
And putting up a show
Maybe it's all a ruse
Maybe my intentions are pure
But at some point
Everyone starts to crack
Every heart forms a shadow
And every clown
Find a way
To make themselves Laugh
