Sounder

Sounder

A Poem by Raymond Federle
"

Sounder

"

The field runs far and wide,

where the sky meets the earth.

Upon this ground, love is found,

soul, heart and hearth.

Carefully, silently,

I crept and tracked the sign,

Through the thickets, back up the holler

in the hills of my mind.

And there is found, staked and tied,

A very simple truth,

Hunted years, tracked tears,

The prey.

Me in my youth.
