Rest Forever Young

Rest Forever Young

A Poem by Raymond Federle
"

(Requiem Aeternitatis Fetus)

"

Rest your head in my hands, it's okay.

Lacerated by strands, let life slip away;

Away into black, high up in the blue.

Take it all away, the pain that dwells inside you.

Make a wish, it will never come true, make do, make do.

As always, as well,

as in what you've been through,

it's all been hell, it's all so true.

Settle no more, settle the score.

What in the world are you waiting for?

Wrap your ends to a very tall tree.

Stand on a rock, then lift up your feet.

Leave behind the ground beneath,

the world below, the pain is brief.

Get ready, get set, go on and on.

Painless, well played, free from the cold.

Young and perfect, not growing old,

Let go of everything, but still you hold on.

You won't miss me, once I am gone.

Time will tell so come on, come on.

Say later to the day, I can't make it through the night.

I'd rather surrender, than struggle and fight

I declare there be peace to the air I breathe.

The last deep breath that runs through me.

You're on top of the world, I'll never be;

As good as you, poor me, poor me.

Thank you winter! >>>>> insert smiley face here
The piece flows beautifully. I love the message to the young enjoy, embrace and celebrate. As we age these are things that ebb away from us in their purest forms. It's really a beautiful piece of poetry.
