In Bloom

In Bloom

A Poem by Raymond Federle

Wooden fencing long decayed,
With what's left of faded paint
Cold steel gate swings open wide
A smell of death is faint

Flowers yellow, that once adorned,
Door has rot to brown
Grey crumpled leaves are only now,
One solace for the crown

On lifeless garden's ground,
laid roses,once were red.
Stood presently but a single tree,
Whose rusted remains bled

Hidden in the fog,
Cloaked by the mist,
No torch will shine,
from the divine,
Before it falls to the abyss

For the fruits are gone;
And the trunk lay hollow;
Long blown away;
Chirping songs of the Swallow

And spring is no longer;
But stay is the permafrost;
And maybe accompanying it,
In the dark,
A monument to innocence lost

Ah...wind is blowing
Hail is now so strong,
Weather of misfortune,
Plays a merry song

Reminds me of the way some people I used to know write. It was very familiar and I liked it a lot. I felt that you kept to your rhyme scheme well and the poem had a very nice flow to it. The fourth stanza was awesome, it just meant so much to me and it alsmot seems like you understand
Excellent job

The last line seals the deal. Perfect. So melancholy throughout, that is the best ending ...

Very poignant and haunting indeed, of course like Khalil said, the merry song is certainly not the type of merriment we think of. As always, you penned another mysterious and eerie poem with a fine lining of beauty to it. Wonderful!

You have created some haunting images in this dark and beautiful poem Raymond. You have such a gift for drawing the reader into your words. Brilliant writing my friend.

I love the way you take the reader into the realm of your poem. Very beautiful in a dark way. Great job :)
