A Soliloquy in the Human Medium: Alas, I am Lost.

A Soliloquy in the Human Medium: Alas, I am Lost.

A Poem by Raymond Federle
"

A Soliloquy in the Human Medium: Alas, I am Lost.

"

The ancient Earth-Mother laments.

Her b*****d children, unholy births, altering life's events.

Evil is expelled from the Earth-Mother's womb, wreaking havoc, foretelling doom.

The race of Man shudders with revulsion, awful entity delights.

In it's idyllic existence, all will perish, ending sweet night.

Birth begat hunger, as yet undefined,

neither manflesh nor blood to sate mankind.

Far scarcer ambrosia,

a sustenance desired,

innocent souls will provide,

the nourishment required,

stealthily now moves ill tide

unholy arts are employed.

In search of innocence,

all reticence destroyed!

Bereft of souls, vital essence consumed,

neo-beings emerge, barren lives are resumed.

Life's beauty is lost for such changelings as these.

Daemon dancing and writhing, spreading disease.

No conscience required, ruthless orgies proclaim.

The death celebrated, the old ways disdained.

Choices are forfeit, a new order now chooses,

What paths worth traveling, humanity loses.

B*****d child of Perdition, heartless and cruel, unlike her sisters, her goal is accrual;

Collecting souls from these obtuse, willing mortals.

Actions of consequence open, dark underworld portals.

Smiling at depravity, embracing excess as well.

Relying on greed, to resurrect hell.

Oaths chanting desolation, licking Earth Mother's tears,

gleefully awakening mankind's ghastly fears.

Damn. I can't believe that you can produce this and poems about farts. Your talent is crazy. I love this. "Glowing with unexpected memories, obtained stealing souls, this b***h; Mother Earth Queen relishes the foul taste of man, who's mind she controls." What a kick in the gut for a final line! Bravo, friend

This has brawn to it. All I could think of was Vikings, it just has that moody and dark quality. I can imagine the narrator to have a burly, baritone voice lol

I was trying to pick out my favourite lines or two but then each line seemed to match the ones before in scale and grandeur. Raymond, you are my favourite kind of poet, ever-morphing and always deeply-thinking. To say I am impressed would not quite cut it. Bravo.

I'd say the Earth Mother is going through some of the worst menopause ever.

What loud, vicious vocab choices! Feel like a need a bath after reading this, such is the language, very powerful poem, great imagery.
