We

We

A Poem by Raymond Federle

Where I dreamed we were monsters

and there in the night we did wild and terrible things.
Only our flesh to pay as a price for a song that our evil sings.
There was music, such music.

A monstrous sound, a cacophony of wreckage and pain.

Thunderous dark bells like angels, screaming fell on the borders of all that we'd gained.

We could see beyond our tyranny, to the old age that we'd achieved and ripped at the surly chains of all good to abandon this dreadful need.
We became monsters of endless time, bound by our faith to the dark.

The velveteen night so soft, full of fright, down a river that ran raving stark.
By a lust for blood, by the flesh forsaken, no heart eternal hope springs

Where I dreamed we were monsters and and there in the night we did wild and terrible things.

A good poem here, I like the imagery. However, you should be informed, that you repeated and twice in a row on the last sentence. Perhaps it is on purpose, but I think it is more an easy to make typo.
